Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist - Medical

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen due to the opening of 2 new modular wards at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The successful candidate will work within the medical team (known as MERRIT) to provide highly specialist therapy to the medical wards. The team consists of other occupational therapists, physiotherapists and therapy support workers.

All of our Occupational Therapists receive supervision and mentorship from a member of our highly specialist team who will offer direction in terms of clinical and leadership development.

Main duties of the job

As clinical lead, you will work closely with the therapy team manager to support and develop the strong and flourishing team. You will be responsible for clinical leadership and support to the team in the form of appraisal and supervision. You will also act as an expert resource to the wider therapy team. The post hold will need to be a confident leader with experience of working within a fast paced and dynamic clinical environment,

The post holder will be responsible for a personal clinical caseload of complex patients. You will also be required to have in depth understanding and experience of working within this area. Band 6 experience in an acute setting is essential.

The working hours for this post will be 37.5 hours per week - over 5 working days which will include a weekend rota commitment.

Your SPA time will include and is not limited to: clinical supervision, opportunity to attend internal and external training relevant to your role and career aspirations and participation in service development opportunities.
