Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our busy and dynamic nursing team on the Trauma and Orthopaedic Ward at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change.

The successful candidate must have experience of working in an acute ward environment with a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of the unit in an effective and efficient manner.

Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics would be desirable.

You will be a clinical role model and must have a willingness to contribute to the development of the team as well as your own professional growth.

You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.

Main duties of the job

  • To function as an competent clinical practitioner within Trauma and Orthopaedics.
  • To deliver direct patient care whilst, co-ordinating and overseeing nursing practice.
  • To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
  • To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.

About us

We are a 24 bedded ward with patients with various Orthopaedic conditions and acute trauma.

The successful candidate would be working within a well established team.

  • RGN, Paediatric specialties RSCN , Operating Theatres RGN or Registered ODP.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional development/ qualification relevant to area of speciality

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Extensive post registration with recent experience in an acute ward setting
  • High level clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Experience of successfully co-ordinating, managing and leading a team on a day to day basis.

Desirable

  • Involvement in Nursing audit and Research

  • Experience in undertaking preceptor/mentor role.
