Cancer Transformation Project Manager

Job summary

This post will lead on Critical Cancer Transformation Projects including the introduction of a cancer prehab service and improve patient outcomes and experience.

The project manager will be required to work flexibly across the projects to ensure oversight of progress, risks and dependencies across the portfolio of cancer transformation projects to improve efficiencies in the pathway

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the Transformation Project Manager are:

  • Clinical engagement - to establish effective working relationships with, among others, consultants and clinical nurse specialists, and to promote collaboration across professional and departmental boundaries
  • Change management - To facilitate the development of improved patient pathways, through the application of best practice and service improvement methods
  • Project management and delivery - To develop and implement projects with clinical and operational teams
  • Communication - To actively engage, inform and influence key stakeholder

  • Registered Nurse with current registration
  • Post registration qualification in Cancer
  • Educated to Masters level education or working towards
  • Management/Leadership certificate or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of continuous practice development
  • Essential IT skills

Desirable

  • Non-medical prescriber
  • Somerset Cancer Register experience
  • Chemotherapy course or qualification

  • Significant senior experience within cancer
  • Experience of working with MDTs
  • Experience of people and team management
  • Experience of Cancer Service Peer review
  • Experience in the annual National Cancer Patient Experience survey process
  • Evidence of successful implementation of audit & research-based practice, demonstrating innovation in practice & change management skills

Desirable

  • Experience of working with national charities / professional forums to lead and promote the development of patient centred services
  • Experience of shaping services to support the Personalised Care agenda
  • Experience in cancer breach reporting and analysis

Knowledge
