We are excited to recruit two Colorectal Nurse Specialists into roles that provide expert care for patients with colorectal diseases and stoma requirements, both in the acute care sector and community.
In these roles, you'll collaborate with healthcare professionals, especially in cancer pathways, to ensure seamless care and follow-up services. You'll lead nurse-led clinics, managing complex cases and handling sensitive conversations with patients and their families. Working closely with colorectal surgeons and cancer teams, you'll be a key resource, providing education and support to staff, patients, and relatives. Main duties of the job
The Specialist Nurse plays a vital role in staff management, patient care, and administrative duties. Collaborating with senior specialists to delegate, educate, and manage junior team members, ensuring compliance with HR policies and NMC codes.In patient care, lead specialised colorectal care, including stoma care, IBD management, and cancer screening, running nurse-led clinics and supporting multidisciplinary teams. Ensuring resource management, efficient stock control, and appropriate staffing levels, while maintaining accurate patient records. Strategically, contributing to policy development, service improvement, and patient satisfaction initiatives.
Strong communication skills are essential to provide psychological and practical support to patients and their families, ensuring effective collaboration with the healthcare team.
The Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist has significant responsibilities for both staff and patient care, as well as administrative and strategic duties. Staff-wise, the nurse collaborates with senior specialists to delegate, educate, and manage junior team members, ensuring adherence to HR policies and NMC codes. They play an active role in induction, recruitment, performance management, and absence handling.

- Stoma Care - short course qualification
- Evidence of own academic education/updating
