*Maternity Cover - 12 month fixed term*
We are looking for an enthusiastic, HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist, with relevant post-registration experience to join the multidisciplinary team in Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
We would like to appoint a suitably qualified Biomedical Scientist, to assist with the provision of a diagnostic service and support the delivery of a 24 hour per day, 7 days per week service as part of a 37.5 hour working week - including evenings, nights, weekends and bank/public holidays.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to train in relevant disciplines and to rotate through all sections of the department. You may be required to work on any of our other sites, as the need arises.
About us
The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital (SaTH) Pathology Services are accredited to UKAS standards. The Biochemistry section is equipped with Roche Cobas 6000 analysers and Roche pre-analytics and middleware. The Haematology section is equipped with a Sysmex XN and CS2500 analysers. Automated Biorad Equipment is in use in the Blood Transfusion Department. The department is an approved IBMS/HCPC training laboratory and continuous professional development is actively encouraged.

Qualifications
Essential
- BSc(Hons) in Biomedical Sciences (IBMS approved) or equivalent
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Relevant IBMS Specialist Diploma(s)
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable
- Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Science or equivalent professional body.
- Multi-disciplinary Specialist Diploma or Specialist Diploma in more than one Blood Science Discipline or equivalent qualification e.g. BBTS Specialist Certificate.

- Substantial practical experience of Biomedical procedures in a relevant discipline; gained through working in an NHS environment
- Experience of Out of Hours working
- Experience of working unsupervised within scope of practice
- Experience of analyser/equipment/IQC troubleshooting

- Experience of supervising junior staff and students.
- Familiar with instrumentation used in the department, or similar.
- Experience of using Pathology LIMS and a Quality management software.
