Job summary
Consultant Radiologists are required at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust for a busy and expanding Department.The posts will include sessions at the two main hospital sites within an overall flexible group job planning format, with an agreed overall sessional make up as described below. Main duties of the job
oDuties will include the reporting of the general radiographic examinations carried out within the main sites for our inpatient as well as outpatient population, also to include the various community hospital locations in Shropshire and our Community Diagnostic Centre.oTo develop and maintain advanced clinical skills relating to Upper GI patients.oYou will be expected to work flexibly according to changes in work patterns and requirements and will be required to participate in the general on-call rota (1:19 cross county on call). Prospective cover of annual and study leave is in place.oYou will also be expected to be involved in the organisation and administration of the Radiology Department and teaching of other clinical staff including participation in regular clinico-radiological meetings with other Consultants. You will be involved in the training of junior Radiology staff.oTo develop enhanced clinical skills, especially in the assessment and management of acutely ill patients.oTo have excellent team-working skills with the abilities and professional attitude to work well in a multi-professional team. Weekly attendance at Upper GI MDT is anticipated.oTo deliver clinical and quality targets agreed both nationally and locally with clinical teams and commissioners.oTo follow patients throughout their clinical pathways.

A full-time job plan is based on a 10 PA working week. - MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
- FRCR or equivalent
- GMC Specialist Registration in Specialty or be eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register within 6 months of obtaining CCT at time of interview, CESR or European Community Rights

- Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via one of the following: - Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview) - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
- Evidence of commitment to Clinical Audit and Research
- Clinical training equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Clinical Radiology
- Experience in Upper GI Imaging and Cross-Sectional Imaging
- Competent in liver biopsy and ascitic drainage
