A new and exciting opportunity to join us at SaTH and lead our Estates team to be a key player of a great team and be part of an exciting journey for our Hospitals.
The Trust has just started to embark on a major capital investment programme of up to £312m to upgrade its estate, and create state of the art medical facilities, developed in conjunction with our Clinicians. The role will be pivotal in developing the Estates Department for the future from within a Trust that has a culture of supportive friendly teams that are passionate about patient care.

Applicants should possess professional knowledge acquired through a degree, or equivalent plus specialist knowledge gained through post-graduate courses, and has experience to Masters equivalent level in a building services/engineering related discipline. This will be supplemented preferably by having worked previously in the NHS or a similar complex organisation, with evidence of management development and formal Health and Safety training/qualification.
Main duties of the job
You will lead and develop the Estates maintenance teams across all the portfolio of SaTH sites so to ensure they are "fit for the future". The successful candidate will work closely with the new Director of Estates and have operational responsibility for the management of the Trust's 'Hard FM' infrastructure and the wider Estates operational function, so as to provide a high quality, compliant, proactive and operational maintenance and repair services for the Trust.
You will ensure that the healthcare environment, including all buildings, engineering systems, energy infrastructure and grounds are safe, compliant with all relevant legislation and healthcare guidance, well maintained within the agreed budget, fit for purpose, available for their intended use, and provide the best possible patient experience in a proactive manner.

Essential
- Professional knowledge in an engineering/building services related discipline acquired through degree or equivalent plus specialist technical knowledge gained through post-graduate courses and experience to masters equivalent level.
- Membership of an appropriate professional body (IMechE, CIBSE, IET, IHEEM etc)
- Evidence of previous Health and Safety Training, such as by satisfactory completion of the BOHS P405 'Management of asbestos in buildings' or IOSH Managing Safely.
- Specialist training, such as that required to hold the position of 'Authorised/Responsible' persons under the Department of Health's Technical Memorandum (HTM)
- Evidence of continuing professional development
