Job summary
An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Medical Secretary team in a job sharing capacity, working within the Urology department in the Surgical Centre. The post holder will work closely with the job share secretary and helping secretaries to organise the Consultant's workload, diaries and clinical correspondence to ensure that an efficient service is provided to our patients.
Applicants should already possess 4 GCSE's (grades 9 - 4) or equivalent. The ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload is essential as are good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of staff groups at all levels.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will produce accurate clinical and general correspondence to patients, colleagues and GP's, regularly using complex and medical terminology from audio transcription and self generated correspondence. You will be required to respond appropriately to telephone calls from patients, who can sometimes be distressed or anxious, and deal with their concerns and resolve their queries sensitively.
You should have knowledge of good practice and system of work within the secretarial / PA field, knowledge of Health & Safety and an understanding of confidentiality / data protection issues.

- RSA Stage 3 typing or equivalent
