Job summary

Due to promotion within the organisation another exciting opportunity has arisen in the ENT Secretariat, based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. We have one part time position available which is for 21.5 hours per week.

The post holder will undertake general support duties within the ENT team, helping to ensure an efficient and well-rounded service is provided. The post holder will be expected to work accurately to deadlines with the ability to manage and prioritise their own workload, after training.

This post will include all aspects of secretarial duties, predominantly audio transcribing patient letters, alongside scanning and any other support tasks requested by the Medical Secretaries, or Supervisor.

The ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload is essential, as are good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of staff groups at all levels. The successful applicant will work as part of a team and will gain valuable experience in the day-to-day management of busy Medical Secretaries offices.

4 GCSE (C and above) or equivalent and RSA Stage 3 typewriting, word processing or equivalent is required. Please note that a 10 minute audio typing test will be undertaken as part of the interview process.

Main duties of the job

Using Microsoft Office application, produce clinical correspondences with audio transcription.To include communication to General Practitioners and other health professionals, clinical letters, notes and discharge summaries.Respond to telephone calls from anxious and distressed patients, taking messages and resolving problems when possible, in a professional and competent mannerArrange and service meetings as requiredEnsure all queries from colleagues and external organisations are dealt with quickly and effectively in the department, producing file notes as necessary.To adhere to agreed policies, procedures and protocols.Ensure the smooth running of the office/team including the assessment of priorities and the initiation of preparatory actionOpening and dealing with incoming correspondences as appropriate
