Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an passionate and motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to help the Band 7 and team of nursing staff within Ward 7 Endocrine and General Medicine at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.

The successful candidate will be able to role model continuous professional behaviour and demonstrate through personal behaviour the core values of the Trust. They will be keen, approachable and friendly manner towards patients, nursing and multidisciplinary team.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping the band 7 with the continuous improvement of the department, effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care that are reflected by patient experience.

The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of a department in an efficient and effective manner. This will involve the assessment and implementation of appropriate care for new and current patients whilst ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and resources used appropriately.

Main duties of the job

You will be an experienced RGN and be able to guide and assess the work of the nursing team building upon your own clinical and managerial experience.

You must possess excellent communication and people skills, you will have a proactive management style, anticipating and dealing with issues constructively within the multidisciplinary team setting. You must be flexible in your approach to the role and acknowledge appropriately to the demands of an ever changing workload. Showing dedication and direction to the team as a whole you will participate in the teaching, training and supervision of all grades of staff. You will be required to be receptive to change, be dynamic and demonstrate effective assistance and help your more senior colleagues in the ongoing development of the department.
