Job summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic Ward Manager for the 23 bedded Cardiology Ward, including 10 bedded Coronary Care Unit, Cardiac Day Unit and Cardiac Catheterisation Lab at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. The post holder will be responsible for a team of approximately 42 staff.
This is a demanding and rewarding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change at this time of developing services within the Cardiology Unit.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of a ward in an effective and efficient manner.
You will be a clinical role model and have a willingness to develop the team as well as your own professional growth, role modelling best practice.
You will need excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.
You must have a minimum of extensive post registration experience with relevant Band 6 (or equivalent), experience in an acute setting - experience within Cardiology is preferable.
We in turn will assist you with developing the required skills for the role especially around people management and the 'art' of mentoring and coaching in practice. All the skills required to advance in your 'management' career will be reviewed with you as part of your professional development.

- RGN, Paediatric specialties RSCN , Operating Theatres RGN or Registered ODP.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional development/ qualification relevant to area of speciality.
Desirable
- Coronary Care Course ENB 124 or equivalent
Experience

- Registered Nurse with post reg experience with recognised practice at band 6 or equivalent in relevant speciality.
- Substantial experience of leading and managing a clinical team
- Managerial ability
- High level clinical skills and knowledge
- Evidence of coordinating and managing day to day operational issues on a regular basis .
- Experience in teaching and training of staff
