Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a part time (15 hours per week) Cashier to work 1 day at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH) and 1 day at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford (PRH). The role requires the individual to work both as part of a team and, on occasions, lone working (following a period of training), working under pressure and often with constant interruptions and occasionally experiencing challenging situations.

The role would suit someone who enjoys dealing with the public and being part of a team providing a service within a busy hospital environment. It involves dealing with a wide range of enquiries on a day to day basis, including dealing with bereaved families.

Procedures require the use of Oracle Financial systems for which training will be provided. Applicants should have accurate inputting skills.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be expected to handle large amounts of cash which involves some lifting and requiring prolonged periods of standing.

Office duties include taking payments either in person or via the telephone, reimbursing travel to patients that meet the qualifying criteria, dealing with patients property handed in for safe custody whilst on Trust premises and lost property.

About us

This varied role would suit a team player to join a small, friendly, well established, supportive department. The department prides itself on being customer focused in delivering a high level of service to patients and staff alike, with no two days being the same.

This role provides a great opportunity to work part time in your local district general hospital across both sites and to become part of the delivery of services provided by the NHS.
