Job summary

This is a new and exciting role for any registered Dietitian, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist or Speech and Language Therapist to move into a strategic leadership role taking forward the various professional strategies across the Therapy Centre. We already have professional leads for Dietetics and Occupational Therapy so the post holder will have a focus on Physiotherapy and Speech and Language Therapy but will need to work closely with the other professional leads to pull together a Therapy Centre wide professional strategy and ensure delivery against this strategy.

The post holder will also be required to chair professional meetings for Physiotherapy and Speech Therapy to ensure all staff within those professions have the latest information and focus. The post holder will also be required to produce reports and present at a variety of meetings including the Therapy Centre Strategy Committee.

Main duties of the job

  1. To keep up to date with current and emerging AHP and profession specific national strategies and interpret these in order to make recommendations for their application within the Trust.
  2. To provide professional leadership for professional staff across Inpatients, Outpatients and Care Closer to Home within the Therapy Centre ensuring staff are supported and empowered, facilitated to develop their knowledge and skills, and that they abide by their Professional Code of Conduct and Healthcare Professions Council regulations.
  3. To fully participate in the development of a robust strategic plan for the Therapy Centre as a member of the Therapy Centre Strategy Committee.
  4. To work closely with the Therapy Quality Improvement Leads and fully participate in the governance agenda, with a particular focus on quality and safety, and take an active role as a member of the Therapy Centre Governance Committee.
  5. To evaluate appropriate aspects of the service including promoting and leading projects linked to the Therapy Centre.

To maintain a high level of over-arching clinical knowledge in order to advise staff as required. This will include spending time with staff in clinical areas within the Centre.

Most of our services are provided at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital in Shrewsbury. The Therapy team is made up of Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language Therapists and a variety of support staff both clinically and in administration. Being part of the therapy administrative team you will be working along side these groups of clinicians to ensure we deliver a high standard of patient centred care.
