Job summary
The OBS-UK (Obstetric Bleeding Strategy for the UK) project is a national quality improvement project. The project aim is to improve the identification and management of Post-Partum Haemorrhage (PPH), leading to improved outcomes for mothers. The project will run until April 2026.
The National Project Lead role will work within the multidisciplinary Project Management Team and the National Project Board. The post holder will have a key role in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the project. He/she will be responsible for the communication and dissemination of good practice with a wide range of stakeholders. They will provide leadership and expert advice as a national improvement resource, acting as a positive change agent. They will also be the specific team manager for a number of hospital sites delivering consultant led maternity services across England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
The post holder will have extensive clinical experience in the management of PPH (both in the acute setting and in the multidisciplinary review and learning of events). They will contribute to the development of a change culture and the implementation of innovation in practice across the NHS specifically around the quality of care relating to PPH.
Main duties of the job
The post holder has on-going responsibility for both the development and delivery of training programmes for multi-disciplinary groups, specifically for PPH.
Working with the OBS-UK team the post holder will meet agreed targets and service improvement requirements as specified. The post holder will report to the Head of Research & Innovation and the Research & Innovation Clinical Lead, alongside the Cardiff OBS-UK study team and Professor of Clinical Midwifery from Cardiff University.
The post holder will also be required to attend quarterly meetings on site at Shrewsbury & Telford Hospital Trust, in order to review progress and engage with the team.
