Job summary
The Day Surgery Unit team are looking to recruit friendly, hard working, enthusiastic and caring Healthcare Assistants to join our extremely busy team. We care for both elective surgical patients and medical escalation patients, providing high quality care to a wide range of patients.

Main duties of the job
- Provide support to patients to maintain their hygiene needs
- Provide support to maintain patients elimination needs
- Assist in the delivery of pressure area care
- Assist in the maintenance of patients nutritional and hydration needs
- Accurately undertake and record patient observations (at a frequency determined by the Registered nurses), reporting any abnormalities immediately to a registered nurse
- Escort patients to and from other wards and departments under the direct instruction of the Registered nurses
- To move patients safely using techniques taught by the Manual Handling Team, including the safe use of mechanical and non-mechanical manual handling aids.
About us
We are a 25 bedded Day Surgery Unit, currently split into Medical Escalation (17 beds) and Elective Day Surgical (8 beds). We also run the Vanguard Unit (across the road from the day surgery entrance), seeing Elective Day Surgery cases from many specialities, including: Head and Neck, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Vascular, and Ophthalmology. We care for all elective surgical patients from admission to discharge.
