Is working within Frailty your passion? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Frailty team at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospitals. This well-respected and successful team covers the Emergency Department (ED) and the Acute Medical Unit (AMU).
This is a permanent post, and the successful candidate will initially be working at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital within the established multi-disciplinary team. The post is rotational and there is an expectation that the post holder will rotate between the two hospital sites (The Royal Shrewsbury and The Princess Royal Telford) every twelve months.
Whilst this is a full-time position, applicants looking for part-time roles are welcome to apply as a job-share/partnership will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate(s) will be supported in working to a job plan with weekly opportunity for training self and others as we continually strive to improve services for patients.
The Frailty team provide an early assessment and admission avoidance service, working closely with health & social care colleagues in the ED and AMU. The team has a Home First ethos and works to maximise function enabling people to return to their usual activities of daily living.
About us
The post will cover the ED and AMU (at RSH this also includes the Short Stay ward), following the patient from presentation at the front door, through to safe discharge from hospital. The team works holistically to assess and treat patients, being engaged with the wider multi-disciplinary team for decision making.
