Job summary
We have a number of exciting Apprentice opportunities within the Estates department at our two acute sites, The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and The Princess Royal Hospital.
During your two year apprenticeship with us, you will gain qualifications to become a fully qualified Carpentry Maintenance Technician and also develop essential skills to work on the hospital systems and with a healthcare environment.
Main duties of the job
During the Apprenticeship the trainee will develop the skills of an Estates carpentry assistant and will be given guidance and support to perform a range of tasks. In particular you will:
- Follow tasks that are defined in writing, but may be communicated to you verbally by a member of staff supervising you.
- To perform a wide range of tasks which may be complex and/or non-routine and work on equipment as follows.
Maintain, repair and install equipment which includes doors (including Fire doors), floors, windows, roofs, glazing (wooden & metal), the making and erection of shelves, cupboards etc., repairs to desks, tables and chairs, using timber and laminated surface materials.
