West London NHS Trust

Specialist Podiatrist

The closing date is 01 July 2025

Job summary

An exciting and unique opportunity for podiatry graduates of 2025!

We are offering a Band 5 developmental post suitable for a highly motivated graduate, who is passionate about podiatry and aspires to be an advanced practitioner and drive change within our profession in the future.

You will be supported by a framework designed to prepare you for Band 6 podiatry roles in a timely and focused way. We will introduce you to practice within the NHS, develop your clinical skills and confidence, as well as develop your personal skills to directly contribute to service

development and delivery.

We are partnering with Professor Mark Tagoe's Podiatric surgical team at West Middlesex Hospital, where you will spend 1 day every week rotating through the specialist areas of surgery, medicine, and imaging. This will be offered for your first year in post.

The aim is to expand your medical and surgical knowledge and experience

as you start on your journey towards being an advanced practitioner in our profession.

As part of this process, you will be expected to attend Thursday evening teaching sessions which will give you the opportunity to further your knowledge base and research skills. The successful

candidate will also develop their presentational ability by sharing the knowledge gained with the wider podiatry team.

Main duties of the job

You will need a BSc(Hons)podiatry degree & HCPC registration (or be working towards this as a newly qualified podiatrist)

In our vibrant and multi-cultural community, you will work from well equipped clinic sites delivering care close to home. You will assess, diagnose, and provide high quality podiatric care to people with complex foot health needs and lower limbs that are at risk.

There is emphasis on diabetes foot protection due to the high incidence of diabetes in the population we serve.

You will be responsible for agreeing care plans with patients that support self-management and optimise foot health, in line with service priorities.

You will be required to visit housebound patients in their own homes, so you must be able to drive and have access to a car to support their needs.

You will work autonomously as well as alongside others, so you need to be flexible and well organised and great at teamworking. You will also need excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with our diverse patient population and with various other health care teams and stakeholders.

Alongside an exciting and fulfilling AHP role in a valued environment, we also offer:

  • A full induction and preceptorship programme
  • A supportive environment to develop clinical skills
  • Access to a comprehensive online library of training, development, and resources
  • Annual leave buying and selling scheme
  • Car lease scheme
  • Childcare vouchers
  • Discounted Gym membership
  • Flexible working
  • Staff discounts
