Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Director/Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist. This is a pivotal role and is a rare and exciting opportunity to provide the overall clinical leadership of Broadmoor Hospital.

In 2019, we moved into the redeveloped Broadmoor Hospital, which provides a modern, state-of-the-art, high secure facility for patients from across London and southern England that meets national and local policy requirements. The environment is safe and secure in relation to protection of the public, visitors, staff and patients. It is designed to maximise the delivery of modern clinical care.

We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic and experienced Forensic Psychiatrist who has proven leadership and clinical skills, who is focussed on ensuring that patients within the hospital receive the highest standards of care and who will lead by example and be highly visible within the hospital.

You will set the clinical vision for the hospital. You will work closely with senior Trust colleagues and partners in Provider Collaborative/s and other High Secure Hospitals.

In recognition of the skills required, the post attracts a £21678 recruitment and retention payment and a £20,000 responsibility allowance.

Main duties of the job

The main clinical duties of the role include; being the Responsible Clinician for patients on one of assertive rehabilitation wards, providing clinical leadership to your multidisciplinary team/teams, being a clinical supervisor (training provided), participating in a non resident on call, carrying out assessments of patients referred to the service, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and engaging in quality improvement and audit projects.

Your main clinical director duties of the role include; providing overall clinical leadership to High Secure services, and help ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of care provided within the hospital, to work in partnership with the Senior Management Team [SMT] to provide strategic leadership to the services and develop a clinical vision and strategy that will be fit for purpose in line with the redevelopment proposals, to work in collaboration with other senior clinicians from all disciplines to ensure the development of coherent, standardised, clinically effective and patient focussed models of care, to lead clinical and research governance arrangements in the service, to support the Research & Development Department of the Trust.
