Job summary
The successful candidate will be based on Derby Ward, which is a male low secure admissions ward in our low secure service. This post is likely to be attractive to those who wish to gain more experience in forensic psychiatry, establish themselves in a Specialty Doctor post or prepare an application for further specialty training.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in a multidisciplinary team providing routine psychiatric care to the inpatients on the ward. They will also have the opportunity to attend the academic programme at the West London Forensic Service as part of CPD activity, and there will be opportunities to contribute to this programme
Main duties of the job
- Work with the MDT in an acute admissions ward setting and provide routine clinical care to the 18 male inpatients.
- Provide routine and ad hoc physical health care and monitoring, including HDAT monitoring and admission/6-monthly physical health assessments.
- Provide routine and ad hoc mental health care, including regular mental state reviews and (when needed) seclusion reviews.
- Maintain patient prescription charts and contribute to monthly Consent to Treat audits.
- Attend and contribute to ward rounds, CPA meetings, HCR-20 and other meetings relating to patient care including taking of minutes of these meetings.
- Preparation of reports (CPA, some MHRT), discharge summaries, interward referral forms, MoJ leave application forms, SOAD referral forms.
