Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant psychiatrist for 12 months in Forensic Psychiatry, to join Lea ward, an 18 bedded Medium Secure Male rehabilitation ward. The post holder will provide leadership and support the Millbrook ward MDT. This is a maternity cover for 12 months with a possibility of extension.
Applicants must be registered with a licence to practice with the GMC and have an approved clinician status with an experience of working in Forensic psychiatry. CCT in forensic psychiatry is desirable. All medical staff are employed by WLNT.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for providing a high standard of care in accordance with national policy (CPA, NICE guidelines) and local policy (Clinical Model, Admissions & Transfers Policy).
The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical Leadership to Lea Ward, which includes working in partnership with the Ward Manager, leading the MDT and chairing key clinical and management meetings on the ward.
The post holder will be required to assess patients in other hospitals and prisons, as requested, in order to provide opinions on their care and treatment.
The post holder will work closely with local psychiatric services and other agencies, including the Ministry of Justice in the case of restricted patients, to facilitate the transfer or discharge of suitable patients. The post holder will be expected to participate in the follow-up with any patient sent on trial Lea or conditionally or absolutely discharged from the hospital.
