Main duties of the job
As a Senior Occupational Therapist, the post holder will carry a defined caseload of patients. They will utilise their clinical knowledge and skills in carrying out comprehensive assessments to inform dementia diagnosis and to deliver specialist intervention.
These include standardised and non-standardised tools. Interventions are predominantly delivered in patients' homes.
The post holder may also work alongside psychology colleagues for the facilitation of groups and individual therapeutic and cognitive stimulation activities, either through face to face or electronic platforms.
They will provide expert advice to patients, carers and other professionals about maintaining or improving patients' occupational ability.
They will help ensure that the occupational therapy services are evidence based, and delivered with compassion and in a person centred manner. If they are interested to gain experience in different settings such and in-patients / dementia units / Older Adults Mental Health wards, these can also be facilitated.
The post holder will be working under the supervision of a band 7 occupational therapist. They will be expected to contribute to the training and development of OT students and MDT trainees with the support of the B7 Specialist OT.
