Job summary
Are you looking for a post to support your transition into senior clinician and would like a mix of rotations to support your development across a range of settings? This rotation offers opportunities in a range of physical and mental health settings and inpatient ward and community services. You will be able to explore different settings and develop skills across mental and physical settings and continue your development when you may not wish to specialise in a certain setting or have not identified where you may want to specialise, this rotation allows you to experience different settings to help you identify where your career aspirations.
Rotations include:
Hammersmith and Fulham - Community Independence Service
Hounslow Mental Health Integrated Network Team
Clayponds inpatient rehab ward
Each rotation is 9 months in duration and offers supervision by Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist and Professional OT/ Therapy Leads in each service area. West London has a strong AHP leadership team and a wider OT management within the trust which is supportive of staff and their development needs. There is an existing across trust AHP Training Programme as well as other training opportunities internally. Staff have been supported with developing their skills across the 4 pillars of practice within trust opportunities and external training as identified by PDR.
Depending on where the successful candidates are placed, they will be on Inner or Outer London HCAS rates.
Main duties of the job
You will carry a clinical caseload in each rotation which will include;
- Assessment and treatment of patients within each service line for an array of conditions and to determine clinical reasoning and Occupational Therapy treatments in line with your case formulations
- To provide a client-centred occupational therapy service to a defined caseload of service users, working with multi-disciplinary team members and the occupational therapy team
- To work as part of a team within the multi-disciplinary Team for the best interests of the caseload
- Supervision of junior and support staff.
To plan, conduct and review audits and service development projects.

- Post registration courses e.g. Cognitive assessment and rehabilitation, Manual handling, Goal setting, Frailty and older people's rehabilitation, Student placement facilitator, MOHO
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience of working in the UK or a similar health economy (acute or community) as an occupational therapist.
- Previous general experience to include the following: Older people / frailty assessment and rehabilitation, Medicine and general surgery, Orthopaedics, Falls, Dementia, Mental Health Conditions, Long term conditions
- Experience teaching juniors and assistants
- Experience completing audit and service development
Desirable
- Experience working as an autonomous practitioner in a community setting
- Previous general experience to include the following: Community working, Neurology, Pain management
- Experience teaching students
