Thank you for your interest in the Occupational Therapist role with the Community Rehabilitation Service (CRS) at West London NHS Trust.
The Trust has grown significantly in the last two years with investment in mental health services and this growth is set to continue over the next five years. In 2019, the Trust expanded its portfolio to include community services in Ealing and beyond, through our integrated care services. Main duties of the job
The CRS has been developed to transform the local rehabilitation services so that they function as a key component in the overall pathway from acute inpatient care to community living for people with complex mental health difficulties, reduce the need for acute care admissions, and the cycle of re-admission, and improve longer term outcomes and quality of life.
With its expansion and development into the three boroughs it serves- Hounslow, Ealing and Hammersmith and Fulham, the CRS aims to provide a less restrictive alternative to inpatient rehabilitation by offering intensive support for service users with complex care needs related to psychosis and (where relevant) co-existing substance use and physical health problems.
Importantly, our care will be provided close to their communities, social networks and homes, enabling people to transition away from restrictive settings. Therefore, the teams will be key partners in supporting the flow of patients from inpatient to supported and independent accommodations.
The Occupational Therapist work with service users to collaboratively develop realistic and achievable, recovery orientated, goals and staying well plans that support their recovery journey.

To provide client-centred occupational therapy to service users with complex needs within the community rehabilitation service.
To be a key member of the multi-disciplinary team and the occupational therapy team, supporting service users to achieve maximum independence through the use of evidence based occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
To actively develop and implement a framework of care, which reflects a holistic approach to service user needs, and is underpinned by relevant evidence and policy.
To work under the supervision of a senior or professional lead/head occupational therapist, to apply clinical skills in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation, which include individual and group orientated approaches.
To contribute to the evaluation and continued development of the occupational therapy service, as well as taking responsibility for the direct supervision of less clinically experienced qualified staff, support staff and occupational therapy students.
To collaborate with colleagues from other professions, support workers, experts by experience and others both inside and outside the rehabilitation service, in order to provide a seamless and integrated service that provides the best possible outcomes for service users.
To ensure that the professional standards and ethics as set out by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) are adhered to at all times.
