Job summary

West London NHS Trusts' Women's Service is excited to be recruiting Registered Mental Health Nurses & Registered Learning Disability Nurse. We are looking for passionate individuals who want to gain specialist skills and establish and develop their careers. We will support applicants in undertaking their OSCE.

We are actively recruiting for staff nurses and where experience in Forensic Services would be advantageous it is not essential; we are looking for passion, commitment and drive with a focus on delivering world class care.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will:

  • In collaboration with the MDT and service user, you will be pivotal in maintaining a safe and therapeutic clinical environment.
  • Assess health and well being needs, develop, monitor and review care plans to meet identified needs.
  • Contribute in developing and maintaining innovative nursing interventions.
  • Contribute to improving quality patient care and improvement of the service
  • Communicate with people in a manner which supports people's equality, diversity and rights
  • Promote personal and professional development of all staff through the creation of a positive learning environment.
  • Ensure high standard of evidence based care is provided to our patients.

About us

We are more than just a secure unit, what we offer to our service users is hope, support and the best care possible. Our vision and clinical model is one that extends beyond the conventional practice and directly into the recovery model that enables our service users to take charge of their recovery process. As some of the service user's issues and difficulties are complex, we have a team of dedicated and passionate professionals: Nurses, HCA's, activities coordinators, psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, art therapists and social workers. Our team is supported by vocational workers, a physical activity advisor, speech and language therapist, a dietician and a pharmacist. We encourage women at the Orchard to have a busy programme and get involved in activities that they enjoy as well as encouraging them to reflect in a safe and secure environment. We hope to create with our staff and service users an atmosphere at the Orchard that is safe and where service users feel able to ask for support and can confide in staff. Each ward has developed a set of mutual expectations in order to keep everybody safe and we expect all service users to adhere to these.

The Orchard Unit is at the forefront of forensic mental health nursing and forms part of the West London NHS Trust. The unit is a modern purpose built 60 bedded medium Secure Women's facility, designed with the specific gender needs of women in mind.
