Job summary

West London NHS Trust are currently advertising for an Inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist in our Acute Mental Health Services. The post is for a 17 bedded inpatient unit which is on the West Middlesex University hospital site, next to Syon Park and Old Isleworth. If appointed, you will be joining an experienced and welcoming team of consultants, who scored above benchmarks in our recent Staff Survey. We have a clear sense of purpose and strong sense of team. We will robustly support your professional and clinical development, as well as any areas of professional interest you are keen to pursue.

The ward manager and matron that you would work with are highly skilled and have recruited an excellent team of professionals to work with them. The ward is engaged in the new strategy of Positive and Caring Environments (P.A.C.E) This strategy supports the reduction of restriction by increasing the offer of positive and proactive care. The aim is to engage people cared for in mental health units in therapeutic interventions that will reduce the likelihood of crisis periods occurring that may otherwise need to be managed through the use of force

Main duties of the job

We want a Consultant Psychiatrist who can;

-Deliver the highest quality of clinical care to the patients and carers we see today.

-Lead, facilitate, actively develop, and support your overall team.

-Take steps every day to ensure the quality of care we provide to our patients and carers, actively engaging with opportunities for learning, growth, and service developments. Providing expert advice to our matrons, managers and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care, areas we should improve or pursue for funding opportunities, and strategic directions we should take in the future. No changes are made without including our consultant team.
