Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctorfor 12 months in Forensic Psychiatry, to join Solaris ward, a 16 bedded Low Secure Male rehabilitation ward. The post holder will support the Solaris ward MDT. This post is likely to be attractive to those who wish to gain more experience in forensic psychiatry, establish themselves in a Speciality Doctor post or prepare an application for further speciality training in Forensic Psychiatry.
Applicants must be registered with a licence to practice with the GMC and have an experience of working in Forensic psychiatry. M.R.C.Psych and Section 12 Approval are desirable. All medical staff are employed by WLNT.

Main duties of the job
- Work with the MDT in an low secure rehabilitation ward setting and provide routine clinical care to the 16 male inpatients.
- Provide routine and ad hoc physical health care and monitoring, including HDAT monitoring and admission/6-monthly physical health assessments.
- Provide routine and ad hoc mental health care, including regular mental state reviews and (when needed) seclusion reviews.
- Maintain patient prescription charts and contribute to monthly Consent to Treat audits.
- Attend and contribute to ward rounds, CPA meetings, HCR-20 and other meetings relating to patient care including the taking of minutes.
- Preparation of reports (CPA, some MHRT), discharge summaries, interward referral forms, MoJ leave application forms, SOAD referral forms.
- Attendance at the ward reflective practice and relational security meeting.
- To arrange cross-cover with colleagues for annual and study leave
- Occasionally you may be asked to support a different part of the service 1 day a week to cover any service needs. This will be discussed and job planned as needed.
