Job summary

West London Forensic Services have an exciting opportunity for a developmental Band 5 Occupational Therapy post based within our Male Adult Medium Secure Services. Within these services, you will have the opportunity to work across Rehab, Acute, Dependency, and Vocational areas. We also have further opportunities to work with forensic our Women's forensic services and Specialist community team. This post is ideal for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist.

This post allows the successful applicant to further develop and consolidate their Occupational Therapy knowledge in a highly supportive environment whilst learning and advancing their skills within the forensic mental health field. This post will allow you to practice the core foundational skills required to become a confident occupational therapist which includes OT-specific groups and assessments.

We provide weekly professional development meetings which include clinical teaching, growing in leadership and service development. We also offer extensive training around our assessment tool and provide newly qualified OTs preceptorship sessions which link in with the wider service and AHP education lead.

Main duties of the job

To provide a client-centred occupational therapy service to a defined caseload of service users, within the local services or forensic division working with multi-disciplinary team members and the occupational therapy team.

To actively develop and implement a framework of care, which reflects a holistic approach to service user needs, and the seven pillars of clinical governance.

To work under the supervision of a senior or head occupational therapist, to apply clinical skills in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation, which include individual and group orientated approaches.

To contribute to the evaluation and continued development of the occupational therapy service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To ensure that the professional standards and ethics as set out by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) and Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) are adhered to at all times.
