Job summary
We are recruiting an outstanding senior clinical leader for Liaison Psychiatry Service (LPS).
Reporting to the Clinical Director of Psychological Medicine Services (PMS), the candidate will be patient and carer-focussed, dynamic and motivating leader and will join an experienced Senior Management Team at a time of stable performance and positive opportunities for quality improvement and transformation.
The role has become available following the previous post holder taking up the Clinical Director Role.
Applicants will be from a consultant psychiatrist with experience of healthcare leadership and commitment to service quality and improvement through intensive and trusted collaboration with clinicians and clinical teams.
The successful candidate will have the ability to articulate and deliver a service strategy with the service manager that is consistent with Trust priorities and the Long Term Plan, whilst providing clear leadership and quality governance within the service.
Main duties of the job
Provide clinical leadership and expertise in the ongoing development of Liaison Psychiatry Services across the service line
To be an active member of the PMS Senior Management Team and actively contribute to Clinical Governance in the service line and wider local services.
To work closely with the Clinical Director and Clinical Leads to provide medical leadership to the service line.
To contribute to the development of the clinical strategy for the service line and help ensure the development of a coherent, standardised, clinically effective and patient focussed model of care.
To develop and maintain strong links with key stakeholders, particularly with commissioners, local authority and acute hospital colleagues.
To work with the PMS Clinical Director to provide effective clinical leadership to the service line and help ensure the development of high quality clinical services which are evidence based, consistence with legal requirements, and in keeping with national policy and the Trusts Corporate Objectives.
To work in partnership with the Service Manager for LPS to support and enable robust operational and financial management of the services.
To provide cross cover for other Clinical Leads working in the service line.
To participate in the management of medical staffing, disciplinary, performance and capability issues ensuring the appropriate monitoring, and reporting of any such concerns.
