Job summary

Are you looking to develop from Band 5 to 6 quickly? Are you looking to improve your assessment skills in a community setting? Well an exciting opportunity has become available for Band 5 nurses in Ealing Acton MINT. This role is perfect for nurses that are keen to learn new skills quickly and advance their careers and become a band 6 worker. You will be supported to progress using our specially designed band 5 to 6 framework. Once this is complete you can progress to a band 6 role within the team. You will be joining a passionate MDT in delivering community care inline with the Community Mental Health Framework.

Community mental health nurses play a key role in dissolving the barriers that can exist between mental health and physical health, social care, voluntary and community social enterprise (VCSE) and local communities You will be working in primary and secondary care, to deliver integrated, personalised, place-based and well-coordinated care for adults and older adults. We are moving towards a 'whole system' of mental health care, which will provide timely access to support, care and treatment.

Main duties of the job

We need Community Mental Health Nurses to support people with mental health needs to access care where and when they need it and be able to move through the system easily. This role means supporting people to be able to manage their problems and move towards individualised recovery on their own terms, surrounded by their families, carers and social networks, and supported in their local community. We need Community Mental Health Nurses who can support individuals be able to contribute to and be participants in the communities that sustain them, to whatever extent is comfortable to them

Essential

  • oProfessional qualification in mental health - Mental Health Nursing (RMN) with current NMC registration

Desirable

  • oEducated to degree or Diploma level with other courses relevant to primary care mental health services e.g. CBT, Brief Solution Focussed Therapy etc.
  • oRGN/physical health qualification
  • oEvidence of recent and on-going relevant further professional development

Experience

Essential

  • oDemonstrable experience of post qualifying work in psychiatry.
  • oExperience of supervising junior staff within own and/or other disciplines

Desirable

  • oEvidence of experience in a Band 6 position or equivalent
  • oOther relevant post registration experience
  • oAudit and research experience
  • oExperience of teaching/training in a formal or informal setting
  • oExperience of working in a primary care setting/ social care/ voluntary sector
