Job summary

Ealing CAMHS is looking for Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologists (Band 8a) to join our friendly, supportive, and experienced multi-disciplinary specialist mental health service within our Children and Families Team.

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled and innovative clinicians who are able to maintain clinical curiosity and engage in reflective practice as well as be able to be an advocate for children, young people and families' needs. You will be joining a welcoming psychology team in Ealing and West London who are committed to service improvement, staff well-being, and who value diversity in our workforce.

We would be delighted to hear from Clinical Psychologists who have some experience working in CAMHS and are interested in any, or a combination of the above roles. Newly qualified psychologists, or those who would be eligible only for Band 7 positions are also welcome to apply and will be considered for appointment on a progression pathway to Band 8a.

Main duties of the job

You will offer a high-quality psychology service to young people, families and carers, alongside working effectively with your colleagues and liaising with other professionals in the network supporting the young person. Both roles combine clinical work with opportunities to support team development and provide supervision and support to trainees and junior staff. Ealing CAMHS has a strong multi-disciplinary approach and thrives on innovative practice to meet the local needs of a culturally and economically diverse borough. You will be committed to ensuring that the service is accessible and effective.

Psychology is very well established profession within our CAMHS teams and has a large group of staff who deliver innovative and highly-regarded clinical services across contexts. There is a strong and supportive network of Senior (Principal and Consultant) Psychologists. The post provides excellent opportunities for professional development and regular supervision.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the British Psychological Society, or equivalent if trained overseas.
  • Eligible to work as a Practitioner Psychologist as approved by the Health Care Professions Council.
  • Training in supervision

Desirable

  • Training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of children, adolescents and their families across a range of care settings, (e.g. outpatient, community, primary care, in patient settings).
  • Experience of working with children, adolescents and their families which will have involved maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Experience working as a specialist clinical psychologist in CAMHS.
  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.

Desirable

  • Further specialist experience in CAMHS, for example;
  • Experience working with children, adolescents (and their families) with learning disability and/or neurodevelopmental conditions (eg. ASD, ADHD, etc) in a CAMH setting.
