Exciting opportunities have arisen following a review of provision of mental health services for older people at West London NHS Trust. We are in the fortunate position of transforming and expanding our service to meet the needs of older people with mild to moderate mental health needs. We are looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Older People's Mental Health (OPMHS) to join our new team. If you are an Occupational Therapist, either Band 5 or 6, interested to join a team of enthusiastic and committed professionals in delivering the NHS Long Term Plan for Older Adults Mental Health services (2019), this will be an ideal role for you.
We are recruiting three Occupational Therapist for the boroughs of Ealing and H&F We want to hear from you if you are dedicated, flexible, forward thinking with clinical skills and experience in working therapeutically with older people with mental health difficulties and physical healthcare issues.
This post is ideal for experienced B5 who wants to progress to a senior position OR less experienced B5 who can be considered for a Developmental B5 to B6 Post. The Developmental Post means that they will be employed as B5 and will be promoted to a B6 post after all competencies are met, ideally within 6-12 months. We ensure as an employer that the required support for the competencies will be on hand.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based in one of the community teams in Hammersmith and Fulham and Ealing and they will be undertaking home visits, meetings at the team base and other community sites.
The post holder will work under the supervision of a B7 Senior Practitioner. As a Senior Occupational Therapist, the post holder will carry a defined caseload of patients. They will utilise their clinical knowledge and skills in the assessment and rehabilitation of Older Adults with functional mental health problems in the community.
They will work within a multi-disciplinary team to undertake the facilitation of groups and individual therapeutic activities. They will provide expert advice about falls prevention, patient's handling, equipment and environmental suitability to maintain or improve patients occupational profile, safety and performance whilst in the community. Ultimately, they will work with the team to support patients in reaching their potential and help them live a quality life.
The post holder will be responsible for the supervision of Band 4 SOAMHS Link Worker as well as contributing to departmental and Trust improvement projects. They will help ensure that the occupational therapy services are evidence based, and delivered with compassion and in a person-centred manner.
