Job summary

We are looking for an Occupational Therapists, either an experienced Band 5 or 6, interested to join a team of enthusiastic and committed professionals in delivering the Prime Minister's Challenge on Dementia (2015) and the NHS Long Term Plan for Older Adults Mental Health services (2019) in Hounslow.

West London NHS Trust, Cognitive Impairment and Dementia services deliver specialist care to patients in the locality (both community and in-patients) who are experiencing cognitive problems & dementia and those 70+ years old who are experiencing other mental health issues that impacts upon their abilities to carry out activities of daily living.

This role is ideal for an experienced B5 OT wanting to have an opportunity to progress as a B6 or for those currently on a B6 role wanting to develop specialism within Older People's Mental Health and Dementia services.

Main duties of the job

This is a B6 post based in Hounslow.

The post holder will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team and the wider occupational therapy team within the older people's mental health service line. Patients who are referred to this service are those with cognitive impairment who are requiring for dementia screening and potential diagnosis.

Occupational Therapy service also provide post-diagnostic supports including cognitive rehabilitation, advise on dementia design, equipment provision and advise to carers/family. They will also work alongside activity co-ordinators and psychology colleagues in facilitating group and individual therapeutic activities either in the clinic or through electronic platforms.

The over 70s patients with other mental health problems under this service will require occupational therapy to help them manage their activities of daily living independently or with minimum support and remain in the community as long as possible.
