Job summary
Due to on-going investment and a structure review and subsequent expansion of the West London CAMHS Nursing we are seeking to recruit to a number of Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) posts within West London NHS Trust CAMHS.
The successful applicant for this vacant position will join the Multidisciplinary Adolescent Team at Ealing CAMHS which is based at 1 Armstrong Way, Southall UB2 4SA.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will also join a thriving team of supportive, committed and skilled nurses who are dedicated to changing the future outcomes for children and young people who present to mental health services.
Main duties of the job
The CNS will provide specialist CAMHS assessments of children, young people and their families with significant and complex problems in order to formulate and implement plans for the treatment and management of a child or young person's mental health problems based upon an appropriate conceptual framework and employing research and evidence-base. They will also undertake risk assessments of children, young people and their families/carers and collaboratively develop, review and evaluate risk management plans. Additionally, the CNS will be responsible for implementing a range of psychotherapeutic interventions for children and young people and their families including running evidence-based therapeutic groups for children, young people and families.
The CNS will engage with statutory and voluntary agencies to develop networks to ensure that the needs of young people with acute, complex, long-standing and/or severe mental health problems are appropriately assessed, contained, and treated, and that the quality of life and competence of the young people and families involved are enhanced during the course of their work. They will also offer advice and consultation to other professionals across a range of agencies including: primary care, social care, and education.
The CNS will form part of the CAMHS Nursing Supervision Structure and will offer supervision and line management as appropriate to members of the nursing team.

We are looking to appoint a Clinical Nurse Specialist who is able to demonstrate a commitment to creative engagement with a culturally diverse population of young people, shows initiative, is a team player and is able to communicate ideas clearly to both professionals and young people alike. Ability to demonstrate knowledge, competence and an interest in working with children who present with complex mental health needs is essential for the role. The Clinical Nurse Specialist will also need to be flexible and have the necessary skills and experience to provide high quality care that is both evidence based and client focussed.
Demonstrable post qualifying experience working within multidisciplinary CAMHS settings and evidence of accredited courses in child and adolescent mental health practice are essential criteria for this post.
