Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical or Counselling psychologist who is keen to develop our recruitment and retention strategy in West London community teams. If you are passionate about developing the psychological workforce and working with our higher education institutions, this may be the role for you.

As we continue the process of transforming the provision of community services, we are keen to expand our recruitment and retention opportunities in our psychology team. This development forms part of our workforce strategy as we focus on the development needs of our psychological workforce. This sits alongside our ongoing work as an early implementer site for the Community Mental Health Framework.

This involves continuing to develop our integrated work with the MDT; working with team colleagues to enhance psychologically informed ways of working and develop innovative ways of working with our voluntary and community sector providers. As part of this exciting service transformation we are keen to support existing staff, expand our capacity to recruit new staff and provide development opportunities for Clinical and Counselling Psychology trainees and CAPs.

A passion for working with developing staff and expand the diversity of our staff group is a central part of the role. Experience in working with higher education providers would be an advantage for this position, as would experience of service development and leadership.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will contribute directly and indirectly to expanding and developing the psychological workforce in CARMHS, including psychologists (Applied Psychologists; Clinical, Counselling, Clinical Associates in Psychology (CAPs), Clinical Practitioners and Assistant Psychologists). This involves supporting placements for CAPs trainees and supporting the coordination of placements, training and CPD. The post-holder will also develop our external interface with existing and potential training providers alongside promoting West London to prospective employees.

The post-holder will hold a small clinical caseload in one of the MINT locality teams and as an autonomous practitioner, he/she will be responsible for their own work and interventions and for the interpretation of agreed guidelines and policies

The post holder will have responsibility for expanding and retaining our psychological workforce in CAMRHS. This will involve promoting our external footprint as a prospective employer alongside ensuring the systematic provision of training and development needs for the existing Psychology workforce in CARMHS. It will involve expanding our placement provision for CAPs trainees and other potential new roles.

The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area served by the team/service.
