Job summary

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist who is ready to take on a clinical leadership role in a multi-disciplinary team? If so, you should apply for our Senior Clinical Practitioner role in the new Specialist Older Adults Mental Health (SOAMHS) Service. This is a therapy led service focused on supporting our older patients to remain independent and live a meaningful life in the community.

Exacting opportunities have arisen following a review of provision of mental health services for older people at West London NHS Trust. We are in the fortunate position of transforming and expanding our service to meet the needs of older people with mild to severe mental health needs. We are looking for dynamic innovative staff to be part of a team that will work therapeutically to support older patients in their mental health recovery in the community.

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting for the Band 7 Senior Clinical Practitioner post based in Ealing Borough. Assessments and intervention are delivered at patients home therefore flexibility is important.

We have 2 offices in for the Ealing team; one is located at Sycamore Lodge in Acton and another one in Elm Lodge, Greenford. Ealing has an excellent public transport links hence having a car or driving is not essential. Most of our clinicians use the bus, cycles or walk on visits. All expenses will be refunded in a monthly basis.

  • Courses to masters level equivalent relevant to the care group
  • Evidence of post registration training in relevant service area Completion of student Supervisor Course/equivalent/Practice Educators/

Experience

Essential

  • Extensive post qualifying experience in relevant service area
  • Experience of supervising staff and Students
  • Experience of managing clinical risks with complex cases.

Desirable

  • Experience working with patients and carer groups to develop innovative practice.
  • Lived experience of mental health issues/caring for Older person with mental Health difficulties/dementia complex mental health needs/dementia

Knowledge

  • Comprehensive knowledge of interventions specific to service area.
