Job summary

We are looking for a qualified Children's Wellbeing Practitioner to join our Hammersmith and Fulham Team on a permanent contract.

The CWP service sits alongside CAMHS TIER 2 services in Hammersmith and Fulham. Hammersmith and Fulham CAMHS is a friendly, busy, borough-located service, and operate as part of West London NHS Trust, a three-borough CAMHS service which also includes Hounslow and Ealing CAMHS.

Main duties of the job

The post holders will offer assessment and guided self-help interventions (individual and group-based) to children and young people (aged 0-18) and their families. They will also play a pivotal role in supporting the trainee CWPs who are already in post.

  • As part of the Children and Wellbeing Practitioner team within the CCAMHS Tier 2 provision to assess and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Working in partnership, support children, young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their families
  • Work in partnership with children, young people and families in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.
  • Support and empower children, young people and families to make informed choices about intervention
  • Operate at all times from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respects diversity
  • Accept referrals within agreed national and local protocols
  • Adhere to the service referral protocols and signpost unsuitable referrals to the relevant service as necessary.
  • Provide a range of information and support for evidence based psychological treatments. This may include guided self-help. This work may be face-to-face, by telephone or via other media
  • Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the overall number of children and young people contacts offered, and sessions carried out per week in order to improve timely access and minimise waiting times
  • Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or CYP in treatment, where appropriate.

  • Psychology or other health /social care/youth related undergraduate degree
  • Other relevant postgraduate degree

Experience

  • Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties
  • Demonstrates an understanding of common mental health problems experienced by children and young people
  • Understands why it is essential to use evidence-based interventions when possible
  • Understands why collecting feedback from children, young people and parents is important
  • Experience of MDT working
  • Significant practice experience in relevant first profession
  • Experience of working with children and adolescents in a mental health or equivalent settings.
