We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic team player to join the Recovery College department within Broadmoor Hospital.
As an IT Tutor we require you to have a genuine interest in supporting patients through various academic levels within IT and software packages. It is important for you to have the ability to work both individually and as part of the team. You will work alongside the current team in supporting the implementation of a weekly timetable with an ever growing number of educational referrals and request. In addition, you will have opportunity to support the senior staff in leading sessions and the department and supervising junior staff.
Main duties of the job
To teach Computer skills to patients within the Recovery College, within small group sessions and on a 1:1 basis on the wards.
To support patients in accessing educational opportunities, at different levels ranging from Entry 1 to Level 2 and possibly higher, to achieve competence and qualifications relevant to them and their abilities.
To be able to support patients through ICT functional skills qualifications up to Level 2.
To demonstrate a flexible and inclusive approach when offering educational support to patients, who can have extreme mental health presentations and/or be in very restricted circumstances.
To be flexible with regard to the needs of the patients ensuring an inclusive and individualised approach and the organisation.
To be able to engage with and support people who have struggled with mainstream education.

Job summary This post is based in the Rehabilitation Therapy Service (RTS) within the high security setting of Broadmoor hospital. The aim of the service is to engage, support and develop patients as part of their recovery through engagement in meaningful therapeutic activities.
The therapeutic activities could be sports, leisure, vocational skills, or a patient job. The focus is to support patients in engaging in meaningful activity on and off the ward at whatever stage of treatment.
Key Result Areas & Performance:

- To provide supervision and Personal Development Plans (PDRs) of a maximum of 2, staff at relevant banding in your areas of responsibility.
- To observe and apply relevant health, safety and security procedures, to ensure a safe working environment. (Ligature Audit, Slip, Trips and Falls, Work Place Inspection, Fire, COSH etc.)
- To assist on specific projects / audits as agreed with your manager relation to development of service and in conjunction with others and help to produce local operational policies.
- To take a share of departmental organisation and administrative duties including responsibility for areas of stock control and searches.
- To assist in the secondary induction of new and less experienced staff.
- To support the education needs of students and non-clinically qualified staff as relevant to level of experience.

- To ensure NHS resource / supplies are used for the good to the patients and accurate and transparent records are kept of supplies.
