Job summary
Join Whittington Health's Children's Complex Care team as a Clinical Lead Nurse, providing expert leadership and case management for children and young people with complex and evolving needs across Islington, Camden, and Haringey. Our patients include children with complex physical health needs, as well as those with autism and behaviours that challenge access to healthcare.
You will ensure safe, high-quality care in children's homes, support families and schools, and collaborate closely with the Integrated Care Board (ICB), social services, and multi-disciplinary teams. Advocating for the child's best interests is key.
The role includes shift work, covering weekends and nights, to maintain continuity of care.

Main duties of the job

1. To assist in the development of policies and guidelines for the team.
2. To report accidents and incidents in accordance with health and safety policies
3. To participate in the management and supervision of Band 4 and below, participating in their orientation and training programme, ensuring identification, provision and evaluation of competencies are achieved.
4. To participate in the appraisal and performance review of staff, Band 4 and below.
5. To support the transition of care packages from children to adult services.
Educational
1. To support the identification of training needs for all carers in order that appropriate training and learning opportunities are provided to achieve the agreed level of competence.
2. To support the training and development of training for staff/family members and other community organisations such as Respite centres/after school clubs and holiday schemes.
Clinical
- To provide and assist with the nursing care of complex care children and young people in their homes and elsewhere in the community.
- Provide nursing Respite to the families of children & young people with complex nursing health needs once competent in the care of individual children.
- To be responsible to the Senior Practitioner for all aspects of their work.
