Job summary

Maternity leave cover for Islington MASH health.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic multi-agency integrated team assessing notifications and referrals regarding children aged 0-19 that are received by the MASH within Children's Social Care. The MASH process includes searching for and collating health information from health data bases, with due regard to patient confidentiality. The health professional needs to analyse and proportionately share the information that is necessary to safeguard and/or promote the welfare of a child.

Provide a seamless response to all safeguarding concerns to children's social care as part of the single point of access.? Be responsible for health input to the assessment, discussions and decisions made by the MASH team.? Proactively engage with health staff who deliver frontline services and provide specialist children's safeguarding information, advice, guidance and support to promote the health and welfare of children.? Work with the Whittington Health Children Safeguarding Team to develop and implement the health systems and processes within the MASH and to ensure that there is an effective audit in place for monitoring the management of referrals requiring health input.? Collate qualitative and quantative data on the workflow through MASH Health.

Education / Qualifications/skills and experience

Essential

  • Registered Nurse (Adult or Child) with current NMC registration Specialist Public Health Practitioner, Registered Health Visitor or School Nurse Educated to degree level Evidence of continuing professional development in safeguarding and protecting children to level 3
  • Have the autonomy to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures

Desirable

  • Ability to challenge decisions and articulate rationale effectively
  • Experience of assessing risk for children and families
  • Experience of using electronic information management systems such as RiO

  • Ability to be self-motivated, use initiative and work as an autonomous practitioner
  • Experience of co-working in complex and challenging environments
