Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a successful, patient focused, and vibrant Women's Health Services Department, part of Acute Patient Access, Clinical Support Services, Women's Health Integrated Clinical Service Unit (ACW ICSU) at Whittington Health as a locum Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

You will join the current medical staff in obstetrics and gynaecology and will contribute to the obstetric rota based at the Whittington Hospital.

The post will require formal training and experience in advanced Labour Ward Practice and ATSM that includes major abdominal surgery. It is desirable that candidates have relevant Colposcopy training and accreditation or evidence they have started training but not essential. You will deputise to the Gynae oncology lead and support improvement of Suspected Gynaecological Cancer Pathways.

You will be expected to deliver clinical excellence and demonstrate a strong commitment to multi-professional working. A willingness to learn and work within a constantly changing environment is necessary together with the ability to remain calm under pressure. Candidates should possess leadership skills to drive improvement and share learning.

You will need to demonstrate how your skill mix will help the department thrive and develop.

Entry onto the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of application is essential.

We are looking for a candidate who can integrate well into the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department. The candidate should have a strong interest in Gynaecology and be able to run rapid access clinics and operate independently but we accept there may be a need for initial surgical support. It is expected that the candidate will attend MDT meetings and contribute to the management of more complex patients. The candidate will also be expected to run general gynaecology and hysteroscopy clinics.

  • Full GMC registration
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent [equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC by date of GMC].
  • Entry on the GMC specialist register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of AAC

  • Advanced Training in Labour ward Practice
