Job summary
Ten month fixed term contract to be a Occupational Therapy Team Leader and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Care of Older Persons (COOP) team. The COOP team comprises of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Therapy Technicians and Therapy Assistants and are responsible for providing therapy to patients on the elderly care wards.
Main duties of the job
To be a team leader and be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Care of Older Persons (COOP) team.
To provide high standard and highly specialist Occupational Therapy interventions to patients presenting to the acute hospital with highly complex physical and social needs requiring skilled assessment, treatment, and timely discharge planning.
To be a competent autonomous clinician, highly skilled in the assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of conditions, including but not limited to patients presenting with neurological conditions, respiratory conditions, acute medical patients, falls, complex trauma conditions, vestibular dysfunction, frailty, and those requiring palliative care.
To carry a caseload of patients, providing Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment, focussing on patient rehabilitation and discharge planning and to be a specialist resource for other professionals and the multi-disciplinary teams working with these patients.
To proactively build links with the hospital discharge team and community services to promote patient flow, seamless provision of care and facilitate integrated care for older people.
Undertake activities and support engagement in own and team continuing professional development, to promote a highly skilled Occupational Therapy workforce.
When required to Deputise for the Clinical Lead OT.
To participate in seven-day working, including any on-call rotas.
