Service Manager - Dental Service - Band 7

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Service Manager to join our service.This is a key leadership role in the transformation of the service with the aims of providing high quality paediatric and special care dental services in line with the service specification, and meeting important regulatory requirements.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will have responsibility for day-to-day operations at all our sites in Barnet, Brent & Harrow, will provide leadership to dental nurses and be the quality improvement lead for their area . For staff that are clinically qualified the job plan may include a clinical element.

Job responsibilities

1. To be the line manager for senior dental nurses and administrator-receptionists, carry out appraisal and manage performance, identifying training needs and personal development plans2. To be the professional lead for dental nurses in the Lot, supporting them in their role in providing high quality and safe dental services3. To ensure that the CDS meets its service targets including key indicators of quality, safety, activity and productivity. The post-holder will have responsibility for a number of sites and work with agencies within the Trust as well as external agencies to achieve service goals.4. To coordinate and manage leave applications for all staff in the Lot to ensure the smooth running of the service5. Completion of monthly absence returns on ESR , coordinating and monitoring of annual leave for all staff6. Lead and organise mandatory training compliance within the Lot7. To organise and manage the dental nurse rota across multiple sites, coordinating with dentists, clinical leads and central office

8.To be the quality improvement lead , including health and safety and infection control, with responsibility for ensuring that the service meets the standards expected by the CQC in this Lot9. To lead and co-ordinate bi-annual quality improvement site visits, cascading action plans to the site/clinical team10. To ensure that Infection Control Audits are carried out in line with HTM01-05 at each site and that action plans are completed.11. To be the lead for co-ordinating the monthly Health and Safety audits for each site and submitting the action plans to the trust12. To lead the recruitment and selection process for nursing and admin in their Lot co-ordinating induction programmes for new staff13. To investigate incidents and complaints promptly and to escalate where necessary

  • Certification of NEBDN or Certificate of Proficiency Associate of Dental Hospitals in Great Britain (or equivalent)
  • Evidence of continued learning as part of career development
