Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work as an important part of the Whittington Education Centre (WEC) team to support the delivery of a range of education and training activities.
A part of the role will be working with the WEC Business Manager to identify opportunities to generate income.
The postholder will also work with key educational leads across multiple professional staff groups and play a pivotal role in identifying and supporting development and delivery of sustainable innovative educational opportunities for Whittington Health and external partners.
Main duties of the job
The Course Coordinator will be responsible for smooth running and organisation of a portfolio of educational events currently run at the WEC and virtually.
The postholder must be able to work autonomously whilst at the same time demonstrating a positive approach to multidisciplinary working. The postholder will need to be able to build good working relationships with both internal and external partners.
The Course Coordinator will be an organised and driven individual with ability to understand key aspects of course development, delivery and evaluation, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure.
Flexible working - evening and weekend working may be required as the postholder will need to be on site for events, courses or conferences in support of the delivery of education and training.
About us
WEC is a purpose-built education and training facility for Whittington Health staff and external users. The centre opened in August 2022, with an average footfall of 5,000 people per month.
The WEC team is led by the Assistant Director for Integrated Care Education and the Education Centre Business Manager who overseas the day to day management of the WEC and line manages the team.
The Course Coordinator will also work closely with the Centre administrator and colleagues from other education teams (internal as well as external).

Main duties
- Support all aspects of course management for face to face, hybrid and virtual education and training events ran at the Whittington Education Centre.
- Improve the quality and efficiency of existing programmes by streamlining back-office tasks associated with running training programmes/courses.
- Identify potential areas for training and development work and produce innovative training materials.
- Contribute to the design and effective and efficient delivery of education and training programmes that are responsive to need, patient focussed and in line with Trusts clinical and education strategies.
- Act as the main point of contact on course administration related matters for training facilitators as well as course attendees.
- Act as expert advisor in developing teaching and training initiatives tailored to local needs.
- Maintain a record of all training programmes, participants, feedback, financial and resource management data and any other relevant information which could be used for Trusts annual report and other reports for internal/external stakeholders.
- To be proficient in the use of standard IT packages such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and confident in using Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
- Use training management software such as Arlo and Elev8 and have a working knowledge of content sharing and editing tools such as Vimeo or Camtasia.
- Have appetite for creating content for eLearning as well as providing expertise and advice in the use and package development of digital technologies for education.
- Offer flexible support to other internal and external courses as and when required.
- Link with colleagues from other teams across the organisation to share knowledge and resources.
- Engage with clinical and education teams across Whittington Health, Islington and Haringey primary care and social care and other regions and nationally.
- Offer support and provide cover for colleagues within the WEC team on core duties to respond to the needs of the service. There may be other administrative tasks identified that are pertinent to this role and all members of the WEC team are expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to support the delivery of an effective and consistent service across a range of courses and portfolios.
