Lead District Nurse for Professional Development and Quality

Band 8a

This is an exciting opportunity in Whittington health Adult Community Services, who are rated by CQC as Outstanding in 2020. We are looking for a candidate who will bring an enthusiasm and commitment to improving patient care across Haringey and Islington and an inclusive leadership style in line with our Trust values.

The successful leader will be responsible for the Professional Development Team and will work alongside the Lead District Nurses to enable the Student Specialist Practitioners, District Nurses, Community Nurses andHealth Care Assistants to develop their evidence based clinical skills, complex case management and clinical decision making.

Please note: All staff are required to be doubled vaccinated especially for clinical posts.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will lead on the continuing development of an innovative research and award winning culture across the service.To undertake research for national publication.
  • To be responsible for maintaining accurate records of ongoing clinical supervision arrangements for all staff across service, actively ensuring and monitoring that appropriate arrangements are in place for all nursing staff.
  • To lead on collation of data for the service key performance indicators and nursing quality indicators, ensuring that a plan is in place to continuously improve on results.
  • To represent the service at Whittington Health educational meetings and lead the service Learning Needs Analysis.
  • To agree with the team members performance objectives to reflect bothWhittington Health and national strategies and priorities.
  • To manage the team budget (pay and non pay) and be an authorised financial signatory.
  • To lead on this and the quality review of student placements for the DistrictNursing Services.

Edeucation/Qualification

Essential

  • Registered Nurse
  • Specialist practitioner qualification (preferably DN)
  • Community Practitioner Prescribing Qualification
  • Nurse Independent Prescribing Qualification (or willingness to undertake)
  • Advanced physical assessment qualification (or willingness to undertake)
  • Community Practice Teacher Qualification (AND willingness to undertake recordable teaching qualification
  • Management qualification (or equivalent experience)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (willingness to work to/undertake work at Masters level)

Desirable

  • Postgraduate degree relevant to the area of practice/postgraduate management qualification
