Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Haematology team at University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwickshire NHS trust as a Band 3 Haematology Healthcare Support Worker in our Day Unit and Outpatients department.
The Haematology Healthcare Support worker will assist Doctors and nurses in providing specialist, high quality expert care and support patients (and their carers) with Haematological conditions, delivering holistic, patient centred care according to their changing health care needs.
The applicant should have excellent communication skills and should be able to work with multiprofessional teams.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for own actions, ensuring all patient interactions/observations are communicated to the appropriate healthcare practitioner.
- Show dignity and respect in dealings with patients, staff and visitors.
- Undertake agreed clinical and non-clinical tasks, extending range following training in defined areas. Ensure referral to trained staff and documentation is completed as appropriate.
- Organise own daily workload and undertake tasks independently as well as part of the team whilst also ensuring adherence to department handover.
- Assist with personal patient care needs.
- Complete training and assessment in defined practical skills to aid the trained staff in delivery of optimum patient management e.g. ECG and venepuncture.
