We are looking for highly committed and enthusiastic individual who not only share this aim but are able to integrate fully into the department which has remained a cohesive, well balanced and immensely friendly department in which to work.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the Orthoplastic Trauma service and skin cancer SSMDT. The job plan will include a monthly Saturday operating session to help support the Trust's move towards seven day working and to assist in achieving and maintaining our 18 week targets, specifically in the areas of Admitted, Non-Admitted and Two Week Wait targets.
The on-call rota is 1 in 8 and the successful candidate will be expected to take a full part in the rota which includes Major Trauma. They will also contribute to the general work of the department including a strong teaching commitment, clinical management, QIPS and effective team working.

Main duties of the job
Main responsibility and duties:
- To actively provide and support further development of first-class plastic surgery service for the Trust, working in collaboration with clinical colleagues in all disciplines to provide an integrated service for patients.
- Be expected to support the skin cancer SSMDT, to develop the sentinel lymph node biopsy service for melanoma and to perform block dissections of the neck, axilla and groin for metastatic skin cancer.
- The successful candidate will be appointed on the new consultant contract which will consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PA's). This will consist of 8.65 PA's for direct clinical care and 1.5 PA's for supporting professional activities.
- There is a commitment from the Trust to the postholder that they will have equitable working conditions to their colleagues. A job plan review would be timetabled for the successful candidate within 6 months of commencing post. Administration facilities at the Trust provide a hot desk for plastic surgery consultants within their specified office spaces with dedicated secretarial support
