Lung Cancer Screening Patient Contact Team Leader
The closing date is 03 July 2025
Job summary
The Lung Cancer Screening Programme aims to facilitate early detection of lung cancer, ultimately improving patient outcomes and saving lives. Following a review by the National Screening Committee, the programme is set for national implementation from 2028/29.
This programme is available to individuals aged 55-74 with a history of smoking who are registered with participating GP practices. Through telephone screening, patients are assessed for lung cancer risk using an accredited risk assessment tool. Advanced systems help identify high-risk individuals, and where necessary, they are scheduled for low-dose CT scans, enabling early detection and improved treatment.
The Lung Cancer Screening Patient Contact Team Leader will be responsible for overseeing the Patient Contact Assessors (PCAs), ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of the telephone screening service. The post holder will work closely with the Lung Cancer Screening Team, other NHS trusts, and internal departments to maintain high-quality service standards. Reporting to the Performance and Pathway Manager, the Team Leader will provide leadership, operational support, and training to the PCA team.
The role may require travel to CT scanner sites and other hospital locations to deliver equipment or support service needs. The post holder should have access to a vehicle for work purposes. Please note that this is a site based role.
Please be advised that sponsorship is not eligible for this post.
