Job summary
An exiting opportunity has arisen to employ a Programme Manager for the Breast Screening Service. The service welcomes applications from both clinical and non clinical backgrounds, who have strong leadership, project management, analytical skills and can work in a collaborative way.
The Breast Imaging Unit at UHCW provides a fully integrated screening and symptomatic clinical service. The Warwickshire, Solihull and Coventry Breast screening service has a screening population of 159, 645 (ages 50 - 70), covering the areas of Coventry, Solihull, Rugby, North and South Warwickshire.
The service has been fully digital since 2009 and has three GE Pristina 3D Senoiris mammography units with Tomography and stereotactic capability and four GE ultrasound machines. The team uses a full skill mix, with assistant practitioners and radiographers for mammography, advanced practitioners undertaking film reading and stereotactic biopsies, and consultant radiographers participating in all aspects of breast work including MDTs alongside breast radiologists.
Screening is performed using Siemens Mammomat Inspirations mammography machines on 3 mobile vans, a static site at GEH and the City of Coventry Health Centre. All images are sent to UHCW where they are double reported with group consensus arbitration. Screening images have been stored on a dedicated Insignia PACS since October 2016, which is able to share images with the hospital Insignia PACS.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will manage the National Health Service Breast Screening Programme, (NHS BSP) for a catchment area of approximately 159,646 women across the Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull region.
- To provide highly specialised advice to the Trust on the National NHS Breast Screening Programme and be the main point of contact for all Breast Screening Programme queries.
- To take responsibility for the delivery of a cost effective, safe, high quality breast screening service and supporting waste reduction work.
- To analyse and interpret data from the NHS BSP database to provide written and statistical reports to the Programme Director, Breast Imaging Service Lead, Regional Quality Assurance Office, National Office, UHCW Senior Leadership team, other service managers and healthcare professionals.
- The post holder will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure that the service is consistent and streamlined.
- The post holder will ensure that the service meets the targets of the NHS Breast Screening Programme.
- The post holder will build upon and maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the local health economy covered by the Screening Programme.
- To be responsible for all aspects of line management of the administrative team.
