We require a competent candidate who will be able to support/cover our Urological and Colorectal oncology service for 1 year, to cover maternity leave for an existing substantive consultant. We are keen to appoint a dynamic Consultant Oncologist to join our team of 22 Clinical Oncologists and 3 Medical Oncologists at the UHCW NHS Trust, ie the Arden Cancer Centre, serving Coventry and the adjoining Cancer Units, George Eliot Hospital (GEH) and Rugby Maple Unit.
This 10 PA post is based at the UHCW NHS Trust, Coventry. Applicants who wish to work less than full time are also invited to apply.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary Urological and Colorectal oncology team which includes Clinical Oncologists, Medical Oncologists, Clinical Nurse Specialists, chemotherapy nurses and radiographers. The post-holder will specialise in Urological and Colorectal cancers and would join the relevant MDTs and support the outpatient clinic, radiotherapy and chemotherapy teams.
The post is required to support the site-specialist consultant-led service including facilities for inpatients and outpatients, dedicated chemotherapy suites and radiotherapy facilities. The appointee will support the Acute Oncology Service as core member of the team, the ward in-patient care and contribute to Acute Oncology Service. The post holder will be expected to provide cross cover for MDTs (videoconferencing is available) and to liaise with the Acute Physicians/Emergency department as part of the supporting the Acute Nurse Led Oncology Service and when on call. Patients will be treated in both the Arden Cancer Centre on the UH site, the Maple Unit on the St Cross Hospital, Rugby and the Dorothea Unit at the GEH.
